Our ministries

Everything we do is open to the whole community — you don't need to be a church member, a Christian, or anything at all. Just come along.

Every Sunday — 34 Government Rd, Thornton Congregation worshipping together with hands raised during a Sunday service

1. Sunday Worship Service

Our Sunday gathering is the heartbeat of our church family. Expect heartfelt worship, prayer, and Bible teaching that connects ancient wisdom to modern life — all in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where no one will single you out or put you on the spot. Whether you're exploring faith for the first time or have followed Jesus for decades, there is a seat for you.

  • Worship, prayer and practical Bible teaching for all ages
  • A relaxed, come-as-you-are atmosphere — no dress code
  • Morning tea and conversation after the service
  • Communion celebrated together as a church family
Every Friday — Free, All Welcome A toddler playing with a toy camera at playgroup

2. Community Playgroup

Our Friday playgroup is a free community service for babies, toddlers and their parents, grandparents and carers. Mornings include craft, music and singing, outdoor play and a shared morning tea. For many local families it is the highlight of the week — a place where children learn to play together and adults find the friendship and support that early parenting desperately needs.

  • Free entry — no fees, no bookings, just turn up
  • Craft, music, story time and outdoor play each week
  • Morning tea provided for children and adults
  • Run by screened volunteers with Working with Children Checks
All Week — As Needed Volunteers unloading boxes of food for families in need

3. Community Care & Support

As a registered charity, a core part of our mission is caring for people who are doing it tough — families under financial pressure, people with disability, and neighbours experiencing isolation or crisis. Our care is practical and personal: food and essentials for struggling households, visits to people who are lonely or unwell, and help connecting with professional services when needs go beyond what a church can provide.

  • Food and essential items for households in financial hardship
  • Visitation and companionship for isolated and unwell community members
  • Referral and advocacy to local support services
  • Confidential, judgement-free help — you don't need to attend church to ask

4. Prayer & Pastoral Support

Life brings seasons that are too heavy to carry alone — grief, illness, relationship breakdown, anxiety about the future. Our pastoral team is available to listen, pray with you and walk alongside you through difficult times, whatever your beliefs. Requests are treated confidentially and can be made through our contact page or in person at any gathering.

  • Confidential prayer and pastoral conversation on request
  • Support through grief, illness and life transitions
  • Hospital and home visits for those unable to attend
  • No church membership or belief required

Keep these ministries going

Our playgroup is free, our care is free, and our doors are open to everyone — because people like you give. Every dollar stays local and serves Thornton.
