Sunday Worship Service
A warm, down-to-earth service with worship, prayer and practical Bible teaching. Come as you are — all ages, all backgrounds, all welcome. Stay for morning tea and a chat afterwards.
Grace Community Church (Thornton Church of Christ Incorporated) is a nonprofit, ACNC-registered charity serving Thornton and the wider Hunter region. We gather for Sunday worship, run a Friday playgroup for young families, and care for people doing it tough in our community.
We are a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). Our purpose is to advance the Christian faith and to serve our neighbours — especially families, people with disability and those facing financial hardship.
Grace Community Church has been part of the Thornton community for many years. What began as a small fellowship of believers has grown into a church family that opens its doors every week — not just for worship, but for practical care: a safe place for toddlers to play, a listening ear for people under pressure, and support for households doing it tough.
As a nonprofit organisation, we exist entirely for our mission. We have no owners and no commercial purpose — all income from donations and community fundraising goes directly into our ministries and charitable work. Our finances are reported annually to the ACNC and are publicly available on the Charity Register.
Whether you have been part of a church all your life or have never walked through a church door, you are welcome here. No pressure, no expectations — just community.
Two regular gatherings anchor our week, supported by practical care for our neighbours.

A free, friendly playgroup for babies, toddlers and their parents or carers. Craft, music, outdoor play and morning tea — plus real connection and support for young families.
Practical help for people facing financial hardship, disability or isolation: food assistance, visitation, referral to local services and a community that notices when you're missing.
We keep our costs lean so your generosity goes straight to ministry and care.
A young mum arrived at our Friday playgroup new to Thornton, knowing no one and running on very little sleep. Within weeks she had a circle of friends, her toddler had favourite playmates, and she had people to call when things got hard.
That is what church is meant to be: not a building, but a family. Our playgroup, Sunday service and community care exist so that no one in Thornton has to do life alone.
Your donation to Grace Community Church (Thornton Church of Christ Incorporated) directly funds worship ministry, our free community playgroup and practical care for local people in need.
